All doors, drawer faces, panels and plinths are 3/4″ thick. For further customization, panels and plinths are over-sized to allow for scribing to walls and floors. There is cutting involved, so please let us know if you would prefer those pieces be made to exact IKEA specifications.
Budgeting
Depending on your kitchen’s size, most clients typically spend roughly $2,000-$6,000 on Semihandmade doors, panels and drawer faces. When you add the cost of standard IKEA components ($1,000-$3,000) plus assembly and installation ($1,500-$2,500), you come up with a range of $6,000-$13,000 – more than IKEA’s base offerings, but still considerably less than anything even remotely custom. In fact, stack a Semihandmade kitchen up next to one that’s two or three times our price and we challenge you to find the difference!
For people on tighter budgets, we suggest focusing on just the island or maybe a pantry wall; a shot of contrasting color, veneer or reclaimed lumber can really make that section of the room pop. Old IKEA kitchen owners are really in luck: replace the worn components with Semihandmade doors, panels and drawer faces and you’ve got a totally new kitchen!
